Discovering the Authentic Flavors of Banh Khot Lady
Nestled in the vibrant culinary landscape of Westminster, California, Banh Khot Lady stands as a beacon of authentic Vietnamese street food, specializing in the delicate and savory mini savory pancakes known as Banh Khot. Located at the easily accessible address of 10032 McFadden Ave, Westminster, CA 92683, United States, this establishment has quickly carved out a reputation for quality, tradition, and an unwavering commitment to flavor. It is more than just a restaurant; it is a culinary destination where the rich heritage of Southern Vietnamese cuisine is celebrated in every bite.
For those unfamiliar with this delightful dish, Banh Khot are small, crispy, coconut milk-based pancakes cooked in specialized cast-iron molds, resulting in a texture that is simultaneously airy on the inside and perfectly golden-brown on the outside. Traditionally topped with ingredients like shrimp, mung bean paste, and scallions, they are served alongside a generous platter of fresh herbs, crisp lettuce, and a perfectly balanced dipping sauce (nuoc cham). Banh Khot Lady takes this classic preparation and elevates it, ensuring that each serving transports the diner directly to the bustling street stalls of Vung Tau, where the dish is said to have originated.
The atmosphere at Banh Khot Lady is intentionally warm and inviting, reflecting the hospitality inherent in Vietnamese culture. While the focus remains squarely on the food—the star of the show—the friendly service and the aroma of fresh ingredients cooking create an experience that is both comforting and exciting for the palate. Whether you are a long-time admirer of Vietnamese cuisine or a newcomer eager to explore its depths, Banh Khot Lady offers an accessible and deeply satisfying entry point.
What truly sets this culinary spot apart in the competitive Orange County food scene are the meticulous details applied to their signature offering and the overall dining philosophy. They understand that great food relies on consistency and the quality of raw materials. This dedication to authenticity resonates strongly with patrons seeking genuine taste experiences.
Key Highlights of the Banh Khot Lady Experience
Mastery of the Signature Dish: The primary draw is, undoubtedly, the Banh Khot itself. The kitchen demonstrates exceptional skill in achieving the perfect balance of crispness and softness, utilizing high-quality coconut milk and fresh toppings. The preparation method honors traditional techniques, ensuring the integrity of the flavor profile remains true to its roots.
Commitment to Freshness and Accompaniments: A crucial element of enjoying Banh Khot is the accompanying fresh vegetables and herbs. Banh Khot Lady places significant emphasis on sourcing vibrant, crisp greens and preparing their signature dipping sauce with precision. This balance of hot, savory pancakes against cool, aromatic herbs is essential to the dish's appeal.
A Focused, Authentic Menu: While the Banh Khot is the centerpiece, the menu often features complementary Vietnamese specialties that maintain the same high standard of authenticity. This focused approach allows the culinary team to perfect their core offerings rather than spreading their efforts too thin, resulting in consistently high-quality output across the board.
Welcoming Community Hub: Situated in a location known for its strong Vietnamese community presence, Banh Khot Lady serves as an important gathering spot. The environment fosters a sense of community, making it a favorite spot not just for a quick meal but for shared dining experiences among friends and family.
The location on McFadden Avenue places Banh Khot Lady right in the heart of a dynamic area, making it convenient for locals and visitors alike to stop by for an authentic taste of Vietnam. It represents the best of what diaspora cuisine can offer: a faithful preservation of traditional recipes adapted slightly for the modern palate while never compromising on the soul of the dish.
In conclusion, Banh Khot Lady is an essential stop for anyone exploring the rich tapestry of Southern California’s Vietnamese food scene. It offers a specialized, expertly executed dish that speaks volumes about culinary dedication. For those seeking the true taste of crispy, savory Banh Khot served with genuine care and attention to detail, a visit to 10032 McFadden Ave promises a memorable and deeply satisfying gastronomic journey.

Banh Khot (Vietnamese quiche) and Vietnamese egg rolls! The best here. Lots and lots of side veggies too. Staff are pleasant and friendly. Small space, but worth the wait.

I’ve never had Banh Khot before this year and I am so glad I found it. It is sooo good here! I’m seriously addicted. I describe Banh Khot to be like a mini quiche. It is crispy, flavorful, and perfectly done at Banh Khot lady. If you take it to go, it still tastes good later. They present it really nicely in a pizza-style box with fresh vegetables, which makes it easy to take away. Definitely order ahead, because it will some time to make - since they make it fresh!
Inside, seating is very limited. There are just one or two bar-style tables and a tiny kid-sized table that adults end up squeezing into (just like in Vietnam). The place itself is a bit run down and not the cleanest (I’ll leave it at that). Parking is super limited, and there are usually homeless people lingering outside. Also, note to the owner: Vietnamese music would be way better than the random Korean playlist!
All that aside, Banh Khot lady is ridiculously good. Come here to take the food away and eat elsewhere.

I don't mind the wait because they are absolutely Amazing!! We waited for 30 minutes for 10 pieces.
We got it to-go, it stays crispy until the next day.
They give a big portion of fresh vegetables eat with banh khot. Generous amount of fish sauce and pickled.
I 100% recommend.

Super warm and friendly, small operation. The staff and owners seem like they have a great vibe and sense of humor.
Haven't tried banh khot before this, but have had plenty of banh xeo, which seems like it should be similar. Every aspect of the food was amazing!
Super crispy crust on the banh knot and tender interior, lovely coconut flavor in the batter, the shrimp and pork were both nice quality and fresh. The sauce was perfectly seasoned, and the huge bag of lettuce and herbs was fresh and clean.
I get the vibe they're going for with the low tables and stools, but my back did start to hurt a bit after sitting down for a while. Luckily the food travels really well. Will definitely be back

I was really happy with my takeout box of banh khot and spring rolls. Both were super flavorful and had the perf mix of crunch and fluffy textures. It was nice having the lettuce and pickles and fish sauce as well. I feel like it's a little pricey for the quantity but delicious nonetheless. If I lived closer I would get it more often.

I got there right when they open because I heard it can get packed. Dining area is very small. Only fits like 2 tables and a bar. Wanted to try banh khot but didn’t want to eat too much because there’s so much food to try in Orange County. It was a perfect size.. small combo comes with 5 banh khot and 2 egg rolls. It was a 20-30 mins wait. So I decided to leave and come back. They literally called me to let me know the order was ready within 15 mins. Food was very crispy. I did think the dough was a little thick. The sauce was to perfection. The veggies were fresh and it’s just how cute they package the box. Definitely recommend for party catering events. It comes in a pizza box if you order a lot.

The Bánh Khot was nicely displayed in its pizza box for easy transport and definitely fun to share with friends. The sauce and pickled veggies definitely paired well with every bite. Unfortunately there wasn't enough lettuce! I needed to bring out my own supply of lettuce to finish off all the Bánh Khot. Close to having the perfect portion but if you're picking up, you might need to also pick up some extra lettuce. Other than that, order ahead and bring it to your next party.

Believe the hype. I ordered the 20/10 combo and two of us couldn’t even finish. The food tasted absolutely amazing. I’m supper happy I had business in the area and could give them a try.
They have a couple tables inside and a couple outside. They are low sitting tables and stools. Not handicapped friendly, it was difficult for myself to get down and to get up. Other than that, parking fills up fast even at lunch time. I didn’t ask to use the bathroom, but it didn’t look like they had one. Simple menu and all drinks are bottled or canned. Not good for large groups, best to order for pickup/takeout ahead of time.

This is the epitome of a hidden gem.
If you’re craving next-level Vietnamese street food, this spot nails it—simple menu, only two main items: bánh khọt and egg rolls. That’s it—and that’s all you need.
Everything’s made fresh to order, so don’t roll up with a big group or expect fast food. If you want a large order, call ahead—waits can get long.
There’s just something magical about wrapping up crispy, savory bites in fresh lettuce, layered with mint, cilantro, a hint of spice, and that golden fish sauce dip.
It honestly feels like you’ve been transported to a side street in Vietnam. Small tables inside and out, super clean, and perfect to take out for parties too.

Banh Kot Lady in Westminster totally lives up to its name. The banh kot (I got the 20-piece) was perfectly crispy on the outside and loaded with shrimp and mung beans—so good. Their fish sauce is amazing too, just the right balance of sweet, salty, and tangy. The food comes out hot and fresh, and you can tell they take pride in what they make. I’d definitely come back for another round.

My Fiancé recommended this place after we took a day trip to OC from San Diego. Coming from Vancouver BC, we sadly don't have anything like Banh Khot lady, so the first bite was truly magical!! Staff was beyond friendly which added to the whole experience, but it was quite saddening to learn that some individuals were taking advantage of small businesses like Banh Khot Lady. If there's a time where your mom and pop shops need you, this would be it. Can't wait for the next trip to OC, will definitely be back again.

Visiting from Dallas and many friends suggested my fiancé and I visit this place. Sooo glad they did and worth visiting! Made fresh to order and served hot in a pizza box w/ fresh veggies and delicious dipping sauce sauce (nuoc cham). Also had the opportunity to meet the owner and chat it up! Coincidentally we share the same last name. 10/10 recommend

They have been in business for three years during the pandemic and this is their first brick and mortar early this year. Banh Khot and egg rolls are all that they sell.
Banh Khot is best described as Vietnamese savory pancake. Cooked over medium heat in a skillet similar to the Danish aebleskiver or Japanese Takoyaki in little wells. The batter’s main ingredients are rice flour, coconut cream, mung bean and corn starch which makes the center rich and creamy not to confused with it being glutinous because it’s not. The corn starch gives it the pancake fluff texture and skillet produces the crispy edges with the shrimp on top.
Banh Khot lady specializes in these and it tastes just like how I remember growing up. What she does differently was the added minced pork. We placed the order on line for the party tray with 30 banh khot and 20 pork shrimp egg rolls as take out. You’re given time slots to pick up. If you don’t see the time you want then that means, they are filling an order already. It came with a large bag of lettuce, pickled veggies and fish sauce to wrap and dip.
When we got home, we air fried it for a few minutes before serving. These little delicacies are so yummy and addicting. I had a total of 10 and could totally eat more.
If you dine in, there are two miniature tables inside and two outside. Similar to street dining in Vietnam.

Love picking up Banh Khot here! Make sure to order online ahead of time, as lines can get long over the weekend. You can choose a specific time slot to pick up your order on the website.
I usually get the 15 piece Banh Khot + 5 piece Shrimp Egg Roll combo (for 2 ppl). It looks like a lot but it's worth it, and easy to reheat any leftovers. I pop them in air fryer for just a couple mins. The combo comes with fresh veggies, herbs, pickled radish/carrot. Their fish sauce is also *chefs kiss*
The store also has a couple small stools/tables to eat outside! Best for quick bite for 1-2ppl though. Otherwise I would just pick up the order to go

The Banh Khot's crispy bites had a wonderful crunch, and it seemed like they had at least a dozen orders in preparation for orders of 50 and 100 - quite impressive! We opted for a small order of 5 Banh Khot's and 5 shrimp egg rolls. The customer service left us thrilled, and the Vietnamese coffee was truly stellar. Be prepared to sit on the tiniest wooden chairs, which was a nostalgic reminder of our visits to Vietnam. 🍤☕🪑

Excellent tasty banh khot. Probably the best in town. Not much of service though, since you pretty much please the order and take the food on your own. The place is small, only a couple of tables inside and a few small tables outside. Seems like their biggest business is take out.
Anyway, if you have craving for banh khot and or having some gatherings at home. You have to get the banh khot from here. It's the best.

This place is a very cozy and delicious spot to visit. We got the pork & shrimp banh khot with the eggroll combo. It was delicious, it was nice and hot flavorful and cooked well and soft and tender. The eggroll was very crispy and delicious and not super greasy. The sauces and lettuce were great though I wish we had more of the greens to wrap the items.
The staff was super nice. The orders can take some time to make so be prepared to wait a bit but it's worth it! The atmosphere and vibe is a very casual place. Some high seats and almost like a squatting seat table. This place also does online order and takeout.
